No, NF525 certification is not mandatory in France for cash register software used by merchants subject to VAT. The French Finance Law of February 2, 2026, once again authorizes self-certification of software, as long as it complies with ISCA principles. However, the NF525 standard guarantees data security, inalterability, conservation and archiving.
Clictill POS software is certified NF525 every year by an approved body, and will remain so year after year, ensuring your continued compliance and total peace of mind.
To check the conformity of a POS software, you need to make sure that it is NF525 certified, and that the POS software publisher provides an official attestation issued by an approved body (AFNOR or LNE). Your POS software publisher may also be self-certifying, but must also be able to provide you with proof of the software’s legal conformity.
